Planted out some strawberry plants grown from runners - for some reason my strawberries were hopeless last year - the plants were only two years old so should have produced fruit - so fingers crossed they will do better this year. Picked another colander full of psb sprout tops and a little cavolo Nero for tea tonight - not a lot left now which is a shame as they have been very tasty.<p></p><p>The sweet peas are germinating at last - I thought they were never going to show - surprising what a bit of warmth in the greenhouse will do.</p><p>Cooked a chicken for tea and pushed loads of garlic paste and butter under the skin to try and give it a bit more flavour but it still was a bit tasteless - I prefer those garlic and herb ones that come in roast bags - now they are tasty.</p><p>The wild life pond is coming to life again the water is crystal clear and I spotted a nest swimming about - whereas the fishpond is green and cloudy - it definitely needs sorting.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXa5l0TLC6ud-uLAZzJ10FGPjn3skJ0FUA-c4oObDzEW5fti8vOGfAkC0KhfT6c2e8kdhkKtFuDlaQfS6NGaZncLQkH9H9QofkVIN8MeXBwPVQGzRLbJ65fjwSBhdhIYQ7UfdYtGQY655I0ScyvD-Q1Yprkigz5U0nExuOUB6rMlpLpYNB5BzBYXfYsGk/s3055/IMG_4255.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3055" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXa5l0TLC6ud-uLAZzJ10FGPjn3skJ0FUA-c4oObDzEW5fti8vOGfAkC0KhfT6c2e8kdhkKtFuDlaQfS6NGaZncLQkH9H9QofkVIN8MeXBwPVQGzRLbJ65fjwSBhdhIYQ7UfdYtGQY655I0ScyvD-Q1Yprkigz5U0nExuOUB6rMlpLpYNB5BzBYXfYsGk/w320-h400/IMG_4255.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-16794772118634840842024-03-16T22:46:00.000+00:002024-03-16T22:46:19.140+00:00Something about a Saturday<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8jy8h05SIUYg8wAp0ES3kqGgQFP6ucdDbxZOxemOvuPpUczTgzRda8YlXpX1oCsQa8vQ9BqKlo46RIrD-_-B1-VtIcmYLv_dug1DJKsBOe2L9batsY5e8P7ERJrMpGGXPPHInsTIqRnY9D4aSBV9LVJWVQN6QEWsUTdQRM9vOftLC7aSfoqdwYEV0Hv8/s3264/IMG_4236.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8jy8h05SIUYg8wAp0ES3kqGgQFP6ucdDbxZOxemOvuPpUczTgzRda8YlXpX1oCsQa8vQ9BqKlo46RIrD-_-B1-VtIcmYLv_dug1DJKsBOe2L9batsY5e8P7ERJrMpGGXPPHInsTIqRnY9D4aSBV9LVJWVQN6QEWsUTdQRM9vOftLC7aSfoqdwYEV0Hv8/w300-h400/IMG_4236.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div>Somehow a Saturday feels different to the rest of the week even if you don’t have to go to work - it just seems more leisurely somehow - I linger longer over breakfast - a bacon and fried tomato sandwich - take longer in the bath maybe take a coffee with me and a book - go to the local co-op for a weekend treat of perhaps an egg custard and buy a chicken for Sunday lunch. Decide todo a bit of de-cluttering - today was the medicine cupboard and the bathroom cabinet - discarding old nail polish that had gone too thick and which I never use now - old tubes of out of date lotions and potions - cough medicines past their use by date by a few years - the list goes on.<p></p><p>Just small things can make a difference to the amount of stuff you have hanging about which you have hung on to that you don’t really need.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwZTdCLKn3s1oRV8-4yQyNR5-33Tr0phrtvVsYw4nagjIdpTKVaVVJO_E3muYjLf_ihAHTdQW9dybsI5xq18UfoTHpkrlukY05196Ybe8SEqVSIK5nHIMUGG2OPZQbhgXb5BllXHmRXWdVbhW7HcMgWTxWaWPg7kYH43qYH8VpoatLVzhQBsmqVKuUAqs/s3264/IMG_4238.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwZTdCLKn3s1oRV8-4yQyNR5-33Tr0phrtvVsYw4nagjIdpTKVaVVJO_E3muYjLf_ihAHTdQW9dybsI5xq18UfoTHpkrlukY05196Ybe8SEqVSIK5nHIMUGG2OPZQbhgXb5BllXHmRXWdVbhW7HcMgWTxWaWPg7kYH43qYH8VpoatLVzhQBsmqVKuUAqs/w300-h400/IMG_4238.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-67102014081476308082024-03-15T22:32:00.002+00:002024-03-15T22:32:56.570+00:00That Friday Feeling<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7eul8YY_PCACAwsao1sg2xiH1fxMEjfFG3z7KB148TyXC0DoT3yIYFlucfliDHxNI6ozhDLBGJLHcKllcqCfb1VxX2n7nTW_35o6K9g6NPZ843By1YBrMmPtyEW0dPCsHCLW6B05nGYCDgPV6rftiPtkvAaRtpeidPh4UiplUD3SNljY9cT0KfcIGvAo/s2593/IMG_4233.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="2593" height="378" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7eul8YY_PCACAwsao1sg2xiH1fxMEjfFG3z7KB148TyXC0DoT3yIYFlucfliDHxNI6ozhDLBGJLHcKllcqCfb1VxX2n7nTW_35o6K9g6NPZ843By1YBrMmPtyEW0dPCsHCLW6B05nGYCDgPV6rftiPtkvAaRtpeidPh4UiplUD3SNljY9cT0KfcIGvAo/w400-h378/IMG_4233.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>The lady from the garage came to collect my car this morning early to take it in for a MOT and service. She brought it back later in the afternoon and all is ok - I did ask if they did a cleaning service - alas no - it’s a white car and shows up all the muck and it’s quite an effort to wash it. The local car wash has closed down so it will have to stay mucky for now.<p></p><p>Yesterday there was a collection for Cancer Research they put a bag through the door for you to fill - I had a pile of clothes waiting to go to a charity shop and some books and you leave the bag by the gate - one minute it’s there then the next it’s gone.</p><p>Did some housework and watered the houseplants and had beans on toast for lunch - fish with parsley sauce for dinner and that’s about as exciting as it gets.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqrj5gnbiLFRl925px9rgtbScnPW2E5hWp-xcAMCVcIU360ayR-rv-gmshuXLhupcHRGqlblIHj0xyhjXjSWLUhDwiuIOv3DP_O1DR2j-66_84RB5tgmVcz7vWQ7VZ4uR4N6gYWVi1NCEB6jqc8LNofFrhmZkReiQZTBghWgaEPacLllkDcPQPVv0Bkcc/s3264/IMG_4245.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqrj5gnbiLFRl925px9rgtbScnPW2E5hWp-xcAMCVcIU360ayR-rv-gmshuXLhupcHRGqlblIHj0xyhjXjSWLUhDwiuIOv3DP_O1DR2j-66_84RB5tgmVcz7vWQ7VZ4uR4N6gYWVi1NCEB6jqc8LNofFrhmZkReiQZTBghWgaEPacLllkDcPQPVv0Bkcc/w300-h400/IMG_4245.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-70208444535479417452024-03-14T22:40:00.000+00:002024-03-14T22:40:15.209+00:00Thursday Things<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjydgyhyphxL0kh_F96s-t0mw8_iypF4bHPdpcQDOEFIyShEiW-eF2LHAU8yimaXdZJ_Yeyi1L78_MATtZcK31A320SBlAIsruI1tdYMyA1uZ8YyIFZ7axhbPttppOKWDdMQta749RqMU7CvkCU-83GWyacVrxdf74wlgl7dxYRAPvKm7ILXT73wim_-e8/s2618/IMG_4224.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2618" data-original-width="2063" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjydgyhyphxL0kh_F96s-t0mw8_iypF4bHPdpcQDOEFIyShEiW-eF2LHAU8yimaXdZJ_Yeyi1L78_MATtZcK31A320SBlAIsruI1tdYMyA1uZ8YyIFZ7axhbPttppOKWDdMQta749RqMU7CvkCU-83GWyacVrxdf74wlgl7dxYRAPvKm7ILXT73wim_-e8/w315-h400/IMG_4224.jpeg" width="315" /></a></div>Thursday is my charity shop trawling day. One thing I have noticed is how the prices have shot up the cost of living seems to have affected even that now - so many of our local towns shops have closed now, particularly clothes shops, that there is nowhere else for people to browse any more. Anyway I bought a cotton top large enough to layer it as and when required and three vintage books. Got some toiletries from Boots and that’s about it.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWcHrJnygYoGRab7WVDJ5HGqmuEKdveBm_6wLT07ob1PZDPwExb1xgt9DKeTpjRquCNr2PRvnEm8qUUIbzN80apfcsGkTLpprdvKyJ1yhBHkxRZBsrxQL8OXeXreiDf85FGcmqDTVx8FItTpcyleSm_l3_ZgfsPY3THpUfm_fKLZ_Kt1u9QjFqeTqeTJ8/s2469/IMG_4230.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2469" data-original-width="2448" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWcHrJnygYoGRab7WVDJ5HGqmuEKdveBm_6wLT07ob1PZDPwExb1xgt9DKeTpjRquCNr2PRvnEm8qUUIbzN80apfcsGkTLpprdvKyJ1yhBHkxRZBsrxQL8OXeXreiDf85FGcmqDTVx8FItTpcyleSm_l3_ZgfsPY3THpUfm_fKLZ_Kt1u9QjFqeTqeTJ8/s320/IMG_4230.jpeg" width="317" /></a></div>I’ve read Angel before but don’t know where it’s gone - I’ve seem the film Enchanted April but not read the book and the Josephine Tey I bought because I enjoyed the last book I read of hers - I shouldn’t be buying any books at all as I still have a huge pile still to be read.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGET-lXrC1wyDCKbV9-8ckQEp_vHVo3YS3MjjP_N0N2zh9STPNpeyVDGO3hj9BKeVy2VfCJ5gL7Di9cQPnjWQdlvRXour8zj8dKWgaSSX7bn-yl_YOJtBcs3vyP_VEDJOomAcb3zJ4yWL1QtgOHKG7sLnn7aAY4PzCViNhx7bSAqicYZ5JyH1E5xVNpEc/s2376/8B7DCC5C-1397-448E-9C93-14C4E39B7E83.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2004" data-original-width="2376" height="270" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGET-lXrC1wyDCKbV9-8ckQEp_vHVo3YS3MjjP_N0N2zh9STPNpeyVDGO3hj9BKeVy2VfCJ5gL7Di9cQPnjWQdlvRXour8zj8dKWgaSSX7bn-yl_YOJtBcs3vyP_VEDJOomAcb3zJ4yWL1QtgOHKG7sLnn7aAY4PzCViNhx7bSAqicYZ5JyH1E5xVNpEc/s320/8B7DCC5C-1397-448E-9C93-14C4E39B7E83.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div>Finished putting together the Lego Succulents that I got for my birthday the last one the cacti with the pink blob on top was the hardest I just couldn’t fix it together and almost gave up I decided to give it one more try and bingo it all just clicked together - I don’t think I’ll be doing another one any time soon.</div><div><br /></div><div>The oil change sign came up on the car dashboard but it’s going in for a service and MOT tomorrow so not too serious.<br /><p><br /></p></div>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-47001389414481816082024-03-13T22:34:00.003+00:002024-03-13T22:34:41.429+00:00Windy Wednesday<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8073uF-Oj6GqjGg5OVNOD20GpY6UiP5xv0hpBIcQV767vccoKjPEZG0Q0E2oKKY-HdFMT36B4uzi3MntxjORDV-IeQMQQy1N6dBUbfK_QgK7EBf6RPsVVJLgMry1n-osYRKhIS2EkFJ1yeTRsIwXn4y-gfrbWkfb4md60hmoWhnNDyuH3t4lm5ZGDkN8/s3264/IMG_4216.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8073uF-Oj6GqjGg5OVNOD20GpY6UiP5xv0hpBIcQV767vccoKjPEZG0Q0E2oKKY-HdFMT36B4uzi3MntxjORDV-IeQMQQy1N6dBUbfK_QgK7EBf6RPsVVJLgMry1n-osYRKhIS2EkFJ1yeTRsIwXn4y-gfrbWkfb4md60hmoWhnNDyuH3t4lm5ZGDkN8/w300-h400/IMG_4216.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div>It didn’t rain today - the sun didn’t come out either but it was windy but that didn’t bother me. Anyway we went shopping for groceries in the rain came back in the rain but by about three it finally lessened and I managed to plant three bare root rudbeckia in pots they are just sprouting but as I planted some fragile shoots broke off - so we’ll see how they recover. Bought a tray of Golden Acre cabbage - six and six pepper plants and six webbs wonder lettuce just to get me going - they are in the living room on a heat mat. Not all the tomato seeds have germinated yet so I may have to sow some more if they don’t show up soon.<p></p><p>The pigeons have had a right go on the purple sprouting which they’ve never done before so there is nothing left for us - all those months of waiting and nothing to show for it.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpYYXY60vECkfJp5Htg1kVuOradHJpI_dyykPpYt_FX-DU0x9XzkzNMsGx4NXDO-dXUyXuqYc1z7CClZBQGbOmA2ylvR2oRwPJDycJOWkFBVpe6hvoTKDi_2CSZOQRsSnqXun-qE_AAXfePHvrZ76u9aSHjOpEWADc5PbRuhJUJaEWQpZTSKN_6eY9wos/s2520/IMG_4215.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2520" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpYYXY60vECkfJp5Htg1kVuOradHJpI_dyykPpYt_FX-DU0x9XzkzNMsGx4NXDO-dXUyXuqYc1z7CClZBQGbOmA2ylvR2oRwPJDycJOWkFBVpe6hvoTKDi_2CSZOQRsSnqXun-qE_AAXfePHvrZ76u9aSHjOpEWADc5PbRuhJUJaEWQpZTSKN_6eY9wos/w389-h400/IMG_4215.jpeg" width="389" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-39662023616056254882024-03-10T22:20:00.000+00:002024-03-10T22:20:24.868+00:00Soggy Sunday<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhxvyIvUsqtTlR1OBHRixZj5d1QWZAM7uKo-Gevbak0OsDCORwv7r-YPmn5wJZcIjBo7ywRfJdm_mYIkRmy9G1ziWfzvUvltVLjiivF7iNTeOaa7BTFiuiIWUiAIjC43b9t9pQnSxU6o_ed6zERbcTDNfaIAsP9z6xsWqM2RNmRy5SPDfBTZU16ZSJ6R4/s1123/IMG_3477.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1123" data-original-width="978" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhxvyIvUsqtTlR1OBHRixZj5d1QWZAM7uKo-Gevbak0OsDCORwv7r-YPmn5wJZcIjBo7ywRfJdm_mYIkRmy9G1ziWfzvUvltVLjiivF7iNTeOaa7BTFiuiIWUiAIjC43b9t9pQnSxU6o_ed6zERbcTDNfaIAsP9z6xsWqM2RNmRy5SPDfBTZU16ZSJ6R4/w349-h400/IMG_3477.jpeg" width="349" /></a></div>The rain hasn’t stopped all day - literally it hasn’t stopped. It’s Mothers Day so here is my Mum. While in the next village went to the co-op and picked up a pot of tete-a-tete for the kitchen and one or two groceries. I mainly make my own soups but because I wasn’t in the mood last week I picked up a tin of tomato and three bean soup - it goes against the grain but I have to say it was really tasty.<p></p><p>Even though the sun was out the wind was really cold and I decided against doing anything outside - I am more of a fair weather gardener I’m afraid these days - husband did mow the front lawn yesterday it desperately needed it but it was so mossy after all the rain it looked even worse after he mowed it than it did before.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1hdBmieG6SA653nrwygOsoEoEpCmt240IVbPPGbCpYgT-aQdDzk8NpzXDtsAx0Ui76-dfpQ5ItA8TtPlheGgCgktBotkb_W_r7EAMMBmjfxCzEpCjkc6uFmx5Bcaeuh4Kw8RgW57RDp5BAZv1aGZ8jj7KZJOj8rcr9np3sL4AdY9DmPx2dBzrMaQmpxY/s3264/IMG_4182.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1hdBmieG6SA653nrwygOsoEoEpCmt240IVbPPGbCpYgT-aQdDzk8NpzXDtsAx0Ui76-dfpQ5ItA8TtPlheGgCgktBotkb_W_r7EAMMBmjfxCzEpCjkc6uFmx5Bcaeuh4Kw8RgW57RDp5BAZv1aGZ8jj7KZJOj8rcr9np3sL4AdY9DmPx2dBzrMaQmpxY/w300-h400/IMG_4182.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-87452173353111719622024-03-05T22:36:00.000+00:002024-03-05T22:36:30.626+00:00Tuesday Things<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj5EoNauPmYhSyJIHtiPK-S2rcgOFOUq5ncQZrAIH0HIL1wNA1FnqZZdf2aYeK7mCmEVVxWG5583NdPU6mCPVWwlh0szo4zS8AMByeYqMCPr1FwfS0o7EwJlizcF_k-_aFoCDkznQPPdCebKjBJ9SV6O5N-8im0erfzrves7rZSbVaPV4pHcawM0LzoNw/s3264/IMG_4169.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj5EoNauPmYhSyJIHtiPK-S2rcgOFOUq5ncQZrAIH0HIL1wNA1FnqZZdf2aYeK7mCmEVVxWG5583NdPU6mCPVWwlh0szo4zS8AMByeYqMCPr1FwfS0o7EwJlizcF_k-_aFoCDkznQPPdCebKjBJ9SV6O5N-8im0erfzrves7rZSbVaPV4pHcawM0LzoNw/w300-h400/IMG_4169.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div>Well my temporary blog writing experiment is almost at an end - it was a trial for my memory to write things down at the end of the day - a sort of aide memoire if you like - but although I thought no one was actually reading it - it turns out that you don’t actually know who is reading it secretly or at least not letting on that they are. Not sure this makes sense to you but it gave me an uneasy feeling that i was being spied on and I don’t like it - so if I do keep going I will make it very general with absolutely no personal stuff that could be used against me - I know I sound a little paranoid but I can’t explain further.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiST6lDRHv-rL-n6pX3SqS8KlY8xI7GBF1YowVWmfJSRhAla2t7ZKD_JGbKkFZseJ_HUwNGlBMmVZvhIOg-On-jechkyd96i2Fwo5TiosL5mYquAl9JcQgm2cLJvPOGCOLSxIa7Cqsufj5WMTEY1sXRvCPZECgpeHoowKD7dWeQQ1OLLU6ueoiVv8lbClg/s3264/IMG_4172.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiST6lDRHv-rL-n6pX3SqS8KlY8xI7GBF1YowVWmfJSRhAla2t7ZKD_JGbKkFZseJ_HUwNGlBMmVZvhIOg-On-jechkyd96i2Fwo5TiosL5mYquAl9JcQgm2cLJvPOGCOLSxIa7Cqsufj5WMTEY1sXRvCPZECgpeHoowKD7dWeQQ1OLLU6ueoiVv8lbClg/w300-h400/IMG_4172.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-27595820319390722682024-03-04T22:29:00.000+00:002024-03-04T22:29:33.065+00:00Monday Musings<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdiznGJh_VxH5L7dScmYXHRjrMGCc1iADq9S_jID-RqkkGHZ4O607dcFyQNX-H05u7cszSbJA-hrax2LEdRZcSylN-NaEsHSr2FNlr7VJymUWQnaCAloSVmnhJcgYF-ipX0LwuisMB85bMLPs43ZA5FVAnOnz5XpWTsqqYOBfX3s27_Xg6YtNAoDj8Npw/s2270/IMG_4168.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2270" data-original-width="1867" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdiznGJh_VxH5L7dScmYXHRjrMGCc1iADq9S_jID-RqkkGHZ4O607dcFyQNX-H05u7cszSbJA-hrax2LEdRZcSylN-NaEsHSr2FNlr7VJymUWQnaCAloSVmnhJcgYF-ipX0LwuisMB85bMLPs43ZA5FVAnOnz5XpWTsqqYOBfX3s27_Xg6YtNAoDj8Npw/w329-h400/IMG_4168.jpeg" width="329" /></a></div>These are sweet pea seeds in such a pretty packet that my neighbour gifted me.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>The morning began frosty but fine and I managed to get a load of washing on the line to dry; I felt quite tired as I think I overdid it a bit yesterday so I didn’t overstretch myself today - that’s one thing I have learned as I get older is to listen to my body and when it says it’s had enough I slow down and give it a rest.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglRXh6GqSZ7kZTYg1ATCHLCQpIHZniaLcSmt-Xc0S3CduQKk1n1dDK7a0cr2wfc4X0bXiVqyMrQ4wR-r0bxhjD90vquhALEDcPbRms9Kq6PBQ_N_WtYrrK_kuxwIt4zlgEueSm6pwZQzv2EBYb_OU3Cn57rnhCVHPcQH4DMJGy9OVK1A0ftrFP4gNtQyA/s2017/IMG_4166.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2017" data-original-width="1340" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglRXh6GqSZ7kZTYg1ATCHLCQpIHZniaLcSmt-Xc0S3CduQKk1n1dDK7a0cr2wfc4X0bXiVqyMrQ4wR-r0bxhjD90vquhALEDcPbRms9Kq6PBQ_N_WtYrrK_kuxwIt4zlgEueSm6pwZQzv2EBYb_OU3Cn57rnhCVHPcQH4DMJGy9OVK1A0ftrFP4gNtQyA/w266-h400/IMG_4166.jpeg" width="266" /></a></div><p>The other day I received a plant order of three bare root rudbeckia and with the order was this lovely seasonal postcard by the artist Este Macleod. I began to get cold so I abandoned the greenhouse for the warmth of the house. I visited my friend after lunch for an hour or so - she had been to the docs for an injection in her knee to ease the pain a little - she said it hurt when the needle went in.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLHb5b8g7h1fGNXXzQ3dIQUjf5pW5ZA95qxpEnIy7NE4LV9G0LAojPovyG6ftWxFuKKRPB0xEqfgMR5VddvSe_kg1WpxLl1jeReffTUPew8tG48Ctnm4Pv170g7KEG7rEZofOaUdBljzKnuv2GCtvwpcOcKUtWjcEV4DmxFueQ44JxV9tYeLWUOulS5GQ/s473/IMG_4114.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="397" data-original-width="473" height="336" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLHb5b8g7h1fGNXXzQ3dIQUjf5pW5ZA95qxpEnIy7NE4LV9G0LAojPovyG6ftWxFuKKRPB0xEqfgMR5VddvSe_kg1WpxLl1jeReffTUPew8tG48Ctnm4Pv170g7KEG7rEZofOaUdBljzKnuv2GCtvwpcOcKUtWjcEV4DmxFueQ44JxV9tYeLWUOulS5GQ/w400-h336/IMG_4114.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>Chicken casserole for dinner - I cut off the sprout tops the other day and we had them tonight - they were delicious - I enjoyed them more than the actual sprouts.<br /><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-68731928052945322732024-02-26T19:29:00.000+00:002024-02-26T19:29:29.080+00:00A few Monday things<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX1gzxl_CpS2G3ax9bGVgChf3Rll2HdKQS8VxWvDjMhHKW8H5UVeHEURHulmXZ1Pvd9MD15TTlP6ONwrBSwZHOYB9teCVOarmInQPJeX11PNQz7xzreZCZAZ-e38qZICmy23-yxnYh14xjWNW1Cmes8gbAZGnFchCQ6Ef8HSA4iqmZC7Eai1nKDjSK7S8/s3264/IMG_4094.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX1gzxl_CpS2G3ax9bGVgChf3Rll2HdKQS8VxWvDjMhHKW8H5UVeHEURHulmXZ1Pvd9MD15TTlP6ONwrBSwZHOYB9teCVOarmInQPJeX11PNQz7xzreZCZAZ-e38qZICmy23-yxnYh14xjWNW1Cmes8gbAZGnFchCQ6Ef8HSA4iqmZC7Eai1nKDjSK7S8/s320/IMG_4094.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>Monday is usually housework day and as the weather was a bit iffy and cold I decided to crack on with a bit of cleaning. Did a wash load and hung it indoors - cleaned the bathroom and scrubbed down the kitchen table and changed the seat cushions. After lunch when husband went off to the dentist I sat and mended a linen shirt, that in a fit of pique last year, cut the cuffs of as they were annoying me - so today I hemmed the sleeves to make it presentable again. Made a chicken and mushroom bake for dinner - and that’s me done for a Monday.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjse4NGBymhhM_Y6ADFSij6KAxiIsvCs1zQUfBXc3N0HoV5glmaPq3eCcFtdRj-cTNQPGcHYyqM67xW9rrTpYdyQfDgqvwkq5VwVYQGL7jdqqMYiXtcWKAaMMB0fczgDw9V2vQ9ojldSI-sPhVoPzgNyeoeQcN1XlY9Az-d-L4aC45Wx72-CbmHbYJtklU/s3264/IMG_4095.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; So the main reason I opened up this blog again was to keep my brain alive; to try to remember details of my day and write it down in some sort of cohesive form, so I sit with pen in hand and focus. It becomes harder - takes mr at least ten minutes to think of a relevant title which mostly turns out to be rubbish.<p></p><p>One of the things I comically have difficulty with is the NATO alphabet and when asked on the phone the other day to spell out a name which should have been V for Victor and R for Romeo I came up with Vera and Ronald which makes me laugh now but was a little embarrassing to say the least.</p><p>Plant names escape me too- at one time I could name a plant in Latin and it’s common name - now it’s - you know the one with the little pink flower which smells nice.</p><p>Hence writing the blog - I think keeping a journal may help - write it down as soon as it happens. The day after writing a post I think oh I should have mentioned so and so - too late!</p><p>So this morning it was raining again so I made some marmalade</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD3nP_efwjyMzgcXUPRc0BRGLD8g6ALrLtEAmLrEg3n8zO4RoEkSuvDpM2S5SrrHWAmNMe2A7snTrpWiq-VdSpzInaKZlfIxVp7b34NF8G8Nf4SRNDUNaiEJ84QdetRDyGBuFHp5NHJmN5lrpGjTEy9AxnWe8d357EHOu2Lij_Qc343wDKvmLrukWKc4E/s3264/IMG_4022.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD3nP_efwjyMzgcXUPRc0BRGLD8g6ALrLtEAmLrEg3n8zO4RoEkSuvDpM2S5SrrHWAmNMe2A7snTrpWiq-VdSpzInaKZlfIxVp7b34NF8G8Nf4SRNDUNaiEJ84QdetRDyGBuFHp5NHJmN5lrpGjTEy9AxnWe8d357EHOu2Lij_Qc343wDKvmLrukWKc4E/w480-h640/IMG_4022.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><p>Then after lunch and a quick nap I went over the road to my friends for a cuppa and a chat where we talk about the garden - swap books and put the world to rights.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE9zO1FUzCUwOxAbdIkjyTwvwdCntrb2lTQ3TG0r3KyChJB9nCNumP_PiT9N6k31IfXWDoFU0ZCMxknwhV_uqIJwyMod2RQ0FmAmDI8qF-6Lf52Q4c7phc2FWcxk2uw0ShAU4n6BnrH4BZuEb0BDBLwaUWZOMycpeZDDd1LJUZJqeJWGtUnAAvPlCvI-Q/s3264/IMG_4035.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE9zO1FUzCUwOxAbdIkjyTwvwdCntrb2lTQ3TG0r3KyChJB9nCNumP_PiT9N6k31IfXWDoFU0ZCMxknwhV_uqIJwyMod2RQ0FmAmDI8qF-6Lf52Q4c7phc2FWcxk2uw0ShAU4n6BnrH4BZuEb0BDBLwaUWZOMycpeZDDd1LJUZJqeJWGtUnAAvPlCvI-Q/w480-h640/IMG_4035.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><p>As dusk fell there was a beautiful sunset that stretched across the whole horizon - one that makes you feel small and insignificant.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-67588396382472935712024-02-20T17:14:00.000+00:002024-02-20T17:14:09.757+00:00 Creating calm out of chaos<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW9bCGqB3ayir7-TD8B3pj_B1ktFY6zSzYdsGz91BiqTpecLih9x2rd3dDALFpY9V3aCdw3qCOsM9YgUP-llZ4LL_q2GViikxXqglfbH9_g3U37FkaMf02NzlBOHPz5w7tpW7OJdUcnQUAfbFWvmbypYb1oQPY6bupUN18uzz6a9MepoQmjIOfKsYSTxc/s3264/IMG_4014.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW9bCGqB3ayir7-TD8B3pj_B1ktFY6zSzYdsGz91BiqTpecLih9x2rd3dDALFpY9V3aCdw3qCOsM9YgUP-llZ4LL_q2GViikxXqglfbH9_g3U37FkaMf02NzlBOHPz5w7tpW7OJdUcnQUAfbFWvmbypYb1oQPY6bupUN18uzz6a9MepoQmjIOfKsYSTxc/w480-h640/IMG_4014.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div>Fulfilling my vow to take a chunk of time everyday to work in the garden and gradually clear the list of things to do - I’ve decided that an hour is about right for me before I wilt. Spent an hour in the garden tidying the pots cutting back dead stuff and sweeping debris - after an hour was exhausted - my energy levels are practically non-existent these days. So annoying that I can’t carry on as I used to but I suppose I can be excused at 75 for feeling a bit tired - can i? Maybe it’s not normal and it’s just be.</p><p>After lunch I went up to have a rest and then the phone rang - it was my husbands bank saying that his account had been hacked - we spent the rest of the afternoon going through security checks hanging on the line - that took up two hours of frustration.</p><p>Went out to bring the laundry in off the line and to put a chicken casserole in the oven for tonight’s dinner - the bank rang back to say a new card will be issued and that it wouldn ‘t have taken so long if we could have visited a branch - making us feel guilty when it is them who have closed all the damn branches.</p><p>So there’s been no time to do anything else - but husband managed to reseal the shed roof which had been leaking.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTsAOpvqkuJIFI_9NSA8DIt3TNQAeBxznQwLXc-whC8ZcvaIFV2wKaEghMUxvJJPs-BKcxt8IP3uqPwASrDJNqGsMvnqTlSy5tqWsK_thhbMTadRLs2ZHBVCieCIAEGe0Tris10_IdVPGZoW9NqUDsJEua5Qk-uwVW2NCn5vnJsTtMYRDiN11_nkoJ5vE/s2710/IMG_4003.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2710" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTsAOpvqkuJIFI_9NSA8DIt3TNQAeBxznQwLXc-whC8ZcvaIFV2wKaEghMUxvJJPs-BKcxt8IP3uqPwASrDJNqGsMvnqTlSy5tqWsK_thhbMTadRLs2ZHBVCieCIAEGe0Tris10_IdVPGZoW9NqUDsJEua5Qk-uwVW2NCn5vnJsTtMYRDiN11_nkoJ5vE/w578-h640/IMG_4003.jpeg" width="578" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>elaine http://www.blogger.com/profile/17075935631756457901noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-812046665751901579.post-72218663762279631162024-02-18T18:13:00.003+00:002024-02-18T18:13:47.835+00:00Living Life in Chunks of Time<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl-4EPebU7M4aLfABBohRFRBH0cZAlqtjnqTIvFMVA5djkkBhwnK9Dla_iM9fRXp0jjSN1iEswXaVyXmP6yQRqgsLv0pnygCE-W6ncvCMiLcEwdqv98tHeOb3Cj8RX-IdUGHUYNvn2gEGaYemFbqjbeI6fYZywGv9yRWRATf_fzKS-H_3OMQ63roAZ53Y/s3264/IMG_3993.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl-4EPebU7M4aLfABBohRFRBH0cZAlqtjnqTIvFMVA5djkkBhwnK9Dla_iM9fRXp0jjSN1iEswXaVyXmP6yQRqgsLv0pnygCE-W6ncvCMiLcEwdqv98tHeOb3Cj8RX-IdUGHUYNvn2gEGaYemFbqjbeI6fYZywGv9yRWRATf_fzKS-H_3OMQ63roAZ53Y/w480-h640/IMG_3993.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>A slow start to the day - it was pouring with rain so I took my book and a coffee with me and had a nice long soak in the bath and read a couple of chapters. Eventually the rain stopped and the sun came out I tried to motivate myself to do a bit of tidying outside which badly needs it - but instead decided to wash some of the glass down in the greenhouse. Because of all the damp and rain the glass was green with algae.</p><p>I have been reading articles about how to manage a middle sized garden - as I get older I am finding it difficult to cope with everything that needs doing - I have had help a couple of times for jobs that need a ladder but I can’t afford that every week so I have to work the garden in chunks of time. Make it more manageable and reducing the workload.</p><p>Easier said than done I know but weather permitting if I just do half an hour a day I should be able to get through quite a few tasks - so that’s the plan - work in chunks of time - reduce things that take up a lot of time like all my containers and try to get rid of the inevitable clutter. So I think that’s a plan - for now anyway.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw3J5vx7ZF0rrVXOwYV6mBgjXu1f042D7bQWi5fBRJVzQOQqefuCZv6kELQ9o4rhgVDHmd2mbZBBY397O88_9cMBN2chVLTzM-HKU71u-zPgsU9-jDSlZWX-xdSL_Bry9iiNHoACiLI7Ld4fASypmVs-aMyztd0pOXF_kw7B3JrwsRTdbbmSu3_OUaA0w/s3264/IMG_3998.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em;
