Looks delicious! Shepherd's pie: the first time I heard of it and learned to prepair it was a long time ago, when I was in Southampton as an 'au pair' 45 years ago.
Now then, that is just naughty as I am now craving shepherds pie. It's autumn and therefore this comfort food is a necessity! Shepherds pie followed by a lamb hot pot. Perfect! xx
Ooooooh! Now you've post that I'd have to agree, although mine is made with quorn. Of late I've been mixing the potato with cauliflower and it really is gorgeous, so fluffy and light.xxxx
We have shepherd's pie (made with a dash of Worcestershire sauce) all year round, but this time of year it's at its best - with sprouts. Lovely! We also add parsnip mash to the potato topping sometimes. But in autumn I also have thoughts of pumpkin and butternut squash... Looking forward to your next warm and cosy post :)
I make meat & vegetarian pies like this for colder evenings. Like you, I love all the creamy mash potato under a crunchy top, especially with melted cheese. I think my favourite comfort food is fruit pies and crumbles.
Hmmm. Just tried to post a comment and got an error message. Let's try again. Your creamy mashed potatoes look delicious! So many comforting foods to choose from, but if I had to choose one, it'd be pho.
That looks soooooo good.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one for starters followed by apple pie and custard or creamy rice pudding!
ReplyDeleteIf the rice pudding is tinned Ambrosia then I'm in.
DeleteI made Shepherd's Pie for our dinner tonight too, love it.

Just the right time of year for it - autumnal food at its best.
DeleteOh this looks delicious!! As far as my comfort food, I have to say pizza lol
ReplyDeleteThat'll do me too! Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteLooks very tasty - I also find comfort in macaroni cheese and lasagne - not together of course!:)
ReplyDeleteYou're not going to believe this - but I have never eaten macaroni cheese - must rectify that.
Delete*Drool* that looks so good!
ReplyDeleteJulie :o)
Haven't had shepherds pie for ages, that looks delicious!

ReplyDeleteI always think of Shepherds Pie as typically British food - do you still make it?

ReplyDeleteNo - lamb hot pot doesn't make my list I'm afraid.

ReplyDeleteOo that sounds nice will give that a try. I sometimes add leeks and cheese on top of the mash for a change.

My husband isn't a big fan of parsnips or squash, too sweet for him, so plain potatoes maybe with cheese are the limited options.
DeleteIt looks scrummy! Sadly for my waistline my comfort food of choice is chocolate!!
ReplyDeletechocolate doesn't do it for me I'm afraid
DeleteThat looks lovely. My favourite would probably be cauliflower cheese :-)
ReplyDeleteOo - I'd forgotten about cauliflower cheese - one of my favourites too

Anything eaten with custard would go on my list too.
