rambling on about . . . home and garden pictorial . . .

To be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter . . .

to be thrilled by the stars at night;

to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring -

these are the rewards of a simple life

Robert Frost

“God made a beauteous garden
With lovely flowers strown,
But one straight, narrow pathway
That was not overgrown.
And to this beauteous garden
He brought mankind to live,
And said "To you, my children,
These lovely flowers I give.
Prune ye my vines and fig trees,
With care my flowers tend,
But keep the pathway open
Your home is at the end."
God's Garden”
Robert Frost

  5. Don't your anemone's look pretty! I added a few new plants to the garden this year, but they are still small. (they got crowded out previously).Your little arrangements are lovely. I still have a few roses which I must gather into a bouquet.

  10. What lovely poems, I hadn't read either of them before. I love your pics, they capture autumn so well and the posies are adorable. I've just bought two of those Japanese Anemone, a pink and a white one. I do hope they grow as well as yours. I LOVED that rainbow and now have a yearning for lentil soup!xxxx

  13. Lovely photos and accompanying words, your catch of snails is pretty amazing, I have hardly seen any snails at all this year, not sure where they have gone but they can stay where they are for me!

  14. Love the words by John Burroughs, especially - and a wonderful selection of photos. Those snails would be a feast for a Song Thrush!

  15. What a lot of colour here, Elaine....and rain! Cosmos 'Purity' is one of my favourite annuals and such a 'good doer', still putting on a bit of a show in spite of the weather.
