rambling on about . . . house guests . . .

I have house guests for the next week – very noisy, hyper house guests.  One is under the desk at the moment, doing heaven knows what – the other is mooching about puffing like a steam train after a bout of running round the house with a tennis ball.

They are staying with me whilst my neighbour goes on holiday to Scotland, I have a double sided page of instructions.

I’m not sure I’ll survive.  If I make a fuss of one the other barks like a maniac and vice versa.

SDC19030 Meet Poppy

It is mayhem – and this is only the first day.  There are toys everywhere, some already ripped to shreds – which doesn’t suit my tidy nature at all.

SDC19036

I’m sure they will settle – my neighbour said they would probably sleep all day – I have seen no evidence of this so far.  Don’t get me wrong – I am a dog-lover and up until the last few years have always kept dogs.  But I have got out of the habit.  So it will be back to long walks, probably mostly in the rain and at ungodly hours.

SDC19031 and Rufus

Only another seven days to go – will I still be sane at the end of the week – I seriously doubt it.  I’ll keep you posted (if I have time).

SDC19033

Finally, the house has gone quiet, both are flaked out – Rufus on the spare bed (apparently he needs a lot of re-assurance and likes to keep you in his sights). Poppy is downstairs in her bed.

I think I need a little lie down myself.  Wish me luck.

  2. Oh dear, good luck! I hope you've hidden everything valuable and put waste bins higher up where they can't reach. Lottie was a terror for raiding the bins for used tissues to shred :( Have a good week. xx

  3. What a large number of toys! It does not as if you will kept on your toes this week. The house will feel very strange when they go home.

  5. We had a doggy house guest last week (for 12 days) and loved having her. She spends a lot of time with us so it's a case of our house is her second home. She is officially my sister's dog but my sister insists that she is as much our dog as hers. We can relate to the toys everywhere but generally our house guest was very calm and well behaved. We've missed her since she went home but the good side is that my sister now feels fit enough to look after her again.

  6. As if you have little kids again. They are adoring, but........ lots of work. I see they have many toys like our Snarf. You will get used to them and at the end of the week you will be glad they go again but on the other side you will miss them.

  9. Funny, I just saw Rufus' and Poppy's blog and they're a little worried about you settling down... Seriously, I'm sure having two dogs in the house will become second nature. Have fun, and cover everything in sheets, though they don't look like they shed much.

  15. A brave and kind friend to look after not one, but two pups. You all will settle into a nice routine and you will be both relieved but sad to see them go home. Good luck.

  17. Well, I love border terriers and have one here so I know how mischievous they can be! Two sounds like quite a handful but hopefully they'll settle down once they get over the excitement of being somewhere new. They do look adorable!

  18. Aww, like having a couple of playful toddlers in the house! Great excuse for long walks and fresh air; you might even get back in the habit again and want to "borrow" them when your neighbour returns!

  20. I wish you ALL THE LUCK YOU NEED! With terriers (they look like it...) you need patience, WIT to outwit them, and a sense of humor! Thank you so kindly for coming over to leave me a message! BE WELL and happy week! Anita

  24. They look like a rather rambunctious pair -- at least from the photos! Glad one of them at least likes to sleep. You are too kind to look after a neighbor's pooches.
