perhaps the best way to start the year …

Wrapped up warmly and walking in the freezing cold on the storm-battered coast

with sunshine and blue skies

going back to the inn, log fires and totally scrumptious food –

what better way to start the year.

I was so relaxed when we arrived home I slept and slept and slept

  unravelling from my pre-Christmas state.

Back to normality.

Christmas packed away for another year.

The house cleaned and surfaces cleared of festive clutter.

That’s more like it.

  2. Isn't there a large RSPB reserve in those parts?

    1. Yes Sue at Snettisham - where we were staying. The storms had flattened all the hides and caused a bridge to totally collapse - the RSPB had put a collection box for donations at Titchwell - they reckon it would cost about £300,000 to put everything right!

    2. What a shame - I guess that is where our membership fee goes,

  3. Sounds wonderful. I was at my parents, near Snettisham, on Boxing Day and stood outside watching and listening to the geese fly back to roost. It was a sound of my childhood and a phenomenal sight, that as children we used to take for granted. It was a murky day though so I couldn't get any pictures. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Have a wonderful 2014 :-)

  8. Good to have it all 'done and dusted'. Just 12th night and Wassailing to get through, then it's all peace and quite until.....

  16. A lovely start to the year, indeed! Nice to get Christmas packed up as well ~ I haven't done that yet, but soon. We did have sunshine today so that was most welcome. More sunshine tomorrow so may try and get some photos.

  17. Well, Elaine, I can think of no better way to relax then a walk along the English sea shore. Lucky you. Here on the plains of a northern Colorado, we have snow this morning. We are supposed to Drive to Denver and hour and a half away for our grandson's birthday. Isn't it nice to have the house back in order?
