Just a few photos taken on an early morning stroll.  The sun was out, the sky clear, the water still -  showing a perfect mirror image.  The church bells were ringing in the distance, early morning dog walkers,  fishermen, cyclists, horse riders – all taking advantage of the Sunday autumn sunshine a brief pause from the torrential rain.  This is what it  is all about for me – and yes, the best things in life are free.

  1. What is it about red berries clinging to bare branches? Looks like your day got off to a wonderful start. While I am just starting my Sunday morning, you are probably settling for afternoon tea. I hope you have a wonderful day and yes, the best pleasures in life are those little things that we take for granted. Have a wonderful week.

  3. I love the geese in flight Elaine......always a joy.
It is true the best thing in life are free......the laughter of children, birds singing, the buzz of bees.
Sometimes we overlook these things in our busy lives.

I met a Spanish lady on the beach on holiday. I speak very little Spanish, she the odd word of english. Poppi and I had been building a castle on the deserted beach.........she had watched us for ages.
It took a lot of time and lots of patience but I eventually found out she has terminal cancer ..............each day she walks the beach to take in life.
I was so humbled.....Poppi and I both gave her a hug then she went on her way. It made me realise just how fortunate I was at that very moment...........playing with my granddaughter, beautiful sunshine, the wind in our hair. Yes the best things in life are free.

  7. Beautiful pictures of a beautiful day! An early morning walk gives energy for the rest of the day and yes, it is for free, is not that wonderful. The flying geese pictures are my favourites, I think because I my flying bird pictures always fail.

    1. We heard them before we saw them and both pointed our cameras skyward just in time - they were flying quite low which was why we got such good shots.

  9. Ah yes, this is what it's all about, what beautiful autumnal pics! I love the clarity of the canada geese! I was out in a lovely country lane walking the dogs a few hours ago, all we could hear were the pheasants chucking and mists were everywhere, then it absolutely hammered down with rain....it was a soggy drive home! A lovely post, as always!xxx

    1. Thank you for reminding me what they were called - I have only ever found these in one particular hedgerow - such a beautiful colour clash of pink and orange - and highly toxic I believe.

  14. They are indeed although I eye the billions of sycamore seeds on our lawn with some trepidation as I do not want any more free sycamore trees!

    1. I understand your concern - but these were hanging so prettily just like Christmas decorations and together with the Bryony berries trailing through the branches made me feel almost festive.

  17. Gracious Elaine - just gorgeous pictures and you are so right the best things in life are free. I could hear those church bells ringing and the geese
honking overhead. What a truly beautiful morning it was. So glad you shared. Looks like you have not lost all of your foliage yet. For the most part our trees are very bare. Have a great week. Thanks for taking me along on your walk.

  24. I love seeing ... and hearing ... the swans and geese arriving at this time of year. I used to work in a tower block near a lake so we got great close up views as they flew passed. Lovely photos.
