A Holiday Collection ...

I have had time to go through all the holiday photographs now and have picked out a few of my favourites to show you - then I promise I won't bore you any more!

For some reason these two people looking through binoculars in different directions tickled my funny bone.

As we were walking through a farmyard this little pig popped his head up to see what was going on - love those big pointy ears.

I swear I thought I saw Ratty and Mole from Wind in the Willows meandering down river in their little rowing boat - a perfect place to dangle your toes in the water.

Two little field mice in captivity, the look on the face on the one on the left is just so darn cute.

This handsome fellow was a perfect poser with his unswerving gaze.

Happy to see a beautiful butterfly on some privet as there don't seem to be many about this year.

And finally a willow warbler or maybe a sedge warbler, not sure, clinging bravely on to a reed as the wind tried to shake him off.

Okay, that's it - no more holiday snaps I promise.  Hope you enjoyed this little collection.

Elaine

    1. Thanks Sarah - he just popped up - gave a few snorts then disappeared again - it was a lucky shot.

  2. Oh please more holiday pictures! I chuckled at that first photo, imagining them not knowing that each other was there, and turning around to face each other smucking their binoculars together. Oh dear! And then the pig really had me going...what a funny shot. Lovely to imagine Ratty and Mole enjoying the river. Those two mice are really funny, and then the gaze of those rectangular eyes sobered me right up! The butterfly and bird photos are a gentle way of finishing off. Thanks for sharing such enjoyable peeks at your holiday :)

  3. In the first one they were probably given strict instructions 'Don't Lose The Children'. I think I saw some similar sheep to your black one on Countryfile last night. We were both saying how beautiful they were.

    1. They were actually bird watching but I think I prefer your version. We saw the sheep on a wild flower reserve not sure what breed they are.

  5. I love them all.......
Piggy and harvest mouse are just too sweet.
BUT for me the water scene stole the show............I could sit there forever and a day :)

Butterflies are in short supply this year, making each sighting very precious.

    Thanks for sharing Elaine.

  7. Frankly, Elaine, I would love to see more holiday photos. My fav: the pig. The ram looke a bit scary, a bit agressive. I have been enjoying your pins, too. So back to normal, back to the garden for you. Enjoy.

    1. Maybe I will post a few more - we'll see. Glad you're enjoying the 'pins' too - I haven't been on Pinterest just lately but I do enjoy a bit of 'pinning'. Yes, it's back to normal in the garden for me.

    1. It was a happy coincidence that he showed his face as we were passing - he was just being nosey I think. I tried to get a photo of a mother hen and her chicks but they were too quick and disappeared into the undergrowth before I had a chance.

  9. A great selection Elaine. Yes, the pig is precious. The mice, less so. But perhaps I am biased!

    1. Thanks Jessica. I can understand your reluctance about the mice - but these were kept in tanks and were great fun to watch scuttling about.

  12. You have some brilliant photographs there Elaine …… it's so difficult to get really good animal shots but yours are great.
My favourite is definitely the pig …… that was so clever to have captured that moment. XXXX

    1. Thanks Jackie - my husband tried to get a picture of the pig but his camera is more technical than mine - by the time he had it all adjusted the pig had gone.

  25. Great collection Elaine, especially the animals are a delight to see. It is so difficult to photograph sedge warblers, I hear and see them often but never got good photos. The ram's face is beautiful, the mice so funny, but most pretty picture for me is the little pig.

    1. It is the same with all birds - you can hear them but so often it is hard to see where they are.

  26. Oh Elaine - I am so glad you shared these holiday pictures. The pig popping up was just over the top!! Loved the mice too and such beautiful snap shots of everything. I had to smile too at the two people with the binoculars. Wonder if at some point they turned full circle and saw each other - how shocking! Have a great week and once again thanks for sharing.

    1. The two people were birdwatching - not sure what they were both looking at or looking for though - the pictures prove that having your camera handy at all times is a good thing!

  27. When holiday 'snaps' are this good there's really no need to apologise for sharing them! I've noticed a shortage of butterflies too. I'm hoping the late spring is responsible and they're just later to appear than normal.
