Absence makes the heart grow fonder ...

Just thought I would pop in for a quick visit. As you can see I have given the old blog a bit of a re-vamp - thought it needed a little facelift.  I don't suppose there is anyone out there who remembers me - but oh how I have missed this space and all the people I have come across over the past few years.  I am feeling nostalgic at the moment and suddenly felt I needed to speak to you all again.  I know I have been gone for a few months which is quite a long time in blogging terms but although I moved over to Instagram because of its ease and quickness, it's just not the same as a blog.

Not that much has been happening in the Rosebank household needless to say - I'm still doing all the same stuff - gardening, growing veg and taking pictures - but the writing has gone for six - I can't remember when I last wrote in my diary - which is most unusual for me  - I guess I just needed to take time out for a while and gradually let things slide.

When I have time I have a quick read of your blog posts to see how you are all getting on and what is happening in your lives  and find that life goes on whether or not I take part in the blogging world with my small contribution.

I hope I can find time to put up a post now and then and that there is someone out there who will still read it - but I know that blog followers quickly disappear when you don't post regularly.

Till next time.

Elaine

  1. It is so nice to see a post from you.
I too miss the blogging albeit most have gone to other forms of contact... Facebook, Instagram etc.
But I'm a creature of habit and it is like one has been invited into the blogger's life to share a pic or two and a few words of common interest.
I've often thought of returning under a new title (as some from my old blogs have passed on) perhaps your present post is just the thing to inspire.
I hope all is well across the Pond.

    1. Hello Susan
Nice to hear from you again - it has been a long time since you stopped blogging - I guess times change and a lot of people that I know have stopped blogging altogether. I do miss the more intimate feel of the blog which you don't really get on Instagram but on the other hand, I like the immediacy of Instagram - thanks for responding, much appreciated.

    1. Thanks Sue - I don't get out and about as much in summer so there wouldn't be much from me on the countryside for the summer months - for some reason I am much happier wandering in the autumn and winter.

  4. It is lovely to see a post from you Elaine and to know that all is well with you. I only post once a week now as so many people have vanished from the blogging scene.

    1. Hello Rosemary
It's funny how people are disappearing from blogging isn't it - perhaps it's all a bit old hat now when there are so many more avenues to take - I have only been on Instagram for six months and have more followers than I had in six years of blogging - although I'm not sure that all change is for the best - and I think it does take a long time to build up relationships with people so that you feel that you know them through their posts.

  5. Lovely to see your post pop up on my blog sidebar, I'm still blogging but not as often as I used to. Hope to see you here from time to time, I don't use Instagram as I don't have one of those camera phones which I think you have to use to register, perhaps I'm wrong on that but I do like the gentleness of blogging:)

Nice to hear from you - I was just looking at your latest post this morning and I think that was what prompted me to do another post because I have missed my old blogging friends. I don't have a phone but joined Instagram with my iPad after a lot of messing about - technology and all that!

  7. Hello Elaine - I like what you've done on the blog. I bet your garden is overflowing with color. I agree that Instagram just isn't the same as the blog. I've been considering opening one of mine again. Still undecided. Be well!

    1. Hello you - lovely to hear from you - it's been so long hasn't it - I did read of your trials with the latest batch of ducks to be released and glad to hear it went ok in the end. I am doing alright but think I am coming out of a sort of midlife crisis - I am trying to pull myself together and get back on top form

  10. You have been tucked in my dormant folder - which I check each month.
    Welcome back!

I have slid from weekly posts to every 10 days - and a pile of posts waiting to be read in Feedly.

  13. How lovely to see you back. I have enjoyed your blog, both the photos and your writing - so I hope you find the motivation to write again. It seems a lot of garden bloggers are currently taking a break so you are not alone. I find it hard to blog frequently at any time and especially in summer - the garden calls at every opportunity. Having read your post I've now found you on Instagram - so look forward to your posts there.

  16. Hello Stranger!
Nice to see you back Elaine. I've signed up for Instagram but am struggling to keep up with social media.. and a blog.. and life! Something has to give somewhere doesn't it.

    1. Hi Jessica
Yes something does have to give - I gave up trying to be superwoman - and it was the blog that came off worst! I'm sure I can manage an occasional post but the comments on other people's blogs may well suffer. Just one of those things that you have to sort out your priorities. Thanks for taking the time to say hello.

Thank you for stopping by - I feel so out of touch at the moment and wish I had more time to visit you all - it is good to know you are still there enjoying life down in Dorset - maybe one day I will get back into the swing of things who knows :)

  18. I have never been a trendsetter or even a trend follower. I usually catch onto a trend by the coattails. I eat a lot of dust. But as long as your posts keep popping up on my reading list, Elaine, I will keep reading them with pleasure.

And as soon as the dust clears, I think I will join Facebook.

    1. Thank you for your kind words they are much appreciated. I do have a Facebook account to keep in touch with relatives but to be quite honest it is full of dross and I very rarely go there anymore. At least with Instagram you can find like minded souls. See you when the dust settles🙂

    2. The dross is what has kept me in the cloak room, but the love of grandchildren can make one do all manner of foolish things...like join the 21st century.
