It’s Sunday Again

Woke up to rain rain and more rain. The house was cold so put the electric heaters on to warm it up a little before we got up.  We are such wimps now aren’t we can’t cope with a little cold and inconvenience - put the immersion on to heat the bath water and made a mushroom omelette for breakfast.  Went into the greenhouse to transplant some purple sprouting broccoli - eleven plants - too many really as two or three are all we need but taking into account the slugs and snails it’s always better to grow too many than not enough.  Cheese on toast with chilli jam for lunch - I do love chilli jam and hope to make some more this summer if I remember.  Watched Housewife 49 the Victoria Wood wartime drama this afternoon on the tube - I have two sequel books to this on my bookshelves Nella Lasts peace and one in the 1950s she continued to write for the Mass Observation programme till her death in 1968. This is what this blog feels like - country life in the 21st century written for posterity - will all these blogs we write go down into the annals of history for future historians to pore over I wonder.  Pork chops with roast potatoes stuffing and apple sauce and the last of the psb for tea.  We’ll watch the last episode of This Town later I expect before bed - the rain stop eventually but too late to do anything about it.
