May Day Bank Holiday. Such a lovely morning - had a slow wander round the garden before breakfast checking everything out and revelling in the lush beauty of it all at this time of year. The lilacs are in bloom the tulips are just about over but other things are coming on. After the usual muesli and fruit for breakfast did the laundry and hung it out, put the house straight and vacuumed and watered the houseplants. Cheese and pickle sandwich for lunch then back into the garden pulling out grass from amongst the flowers and snapping dandelion heads before the seed floated everywhere. Earthed up the potatoes again. Had a bit of a rest and read my book. Cooked a chilli for tea and watched tv in the evening before bed - even though the weather was warm we lit a small log fire just to take off the evening chill.
Our lilac bush doesn't usually do much but it is looking magnificent right now; I think it's been a good year for lilac.
